I carry the podcast near my heart because it is my prerogative to bring to light topics and subjects that the Latine community is not usually given space to voice out, which includes their experiences, concerns and true feelings. When I was growing up, there was no source that existed where I felt heard, seen or a connection with what I would see on TV, or hear on the radio. The authors or other high media profiles of my time I could not resonate with.

They didn’t look like me, sound like me, or have the same struggles as me. I craved a space where I could resonate with my Comunidad, and because I couldn't find it, I made it. On Making Líder Moves, we speak about mental health, overall wellness, therapy, changing your career in your 30s, investing in your mid 30s, opting out of having children, vulnerability, leadership and so much more. Even though there are so many topics to cover, there always seemed to be a common thread - which is getting through our difficulties with the help of a Community that we shape for ourselves.

Community is what made me brave enough to take on the podcast by myself. Having the support of my Comunidad was crucial as I published these imperfect episodes. When I felt imposter syndrome, my Comunidad let me know I was brave and resilient enough to be the trailblazer for La Comunidad. It’s an honor to take on the responsibility, and there are times I get it wrong, but I am human, and I strive for progress and not perfection, and mi Comunidad reminds me of that everyday. They rely on me to get the message out, but I rely on them to be brave enough to execute with me, and that connection and relationship is why I keep going and strive to get the word out to the Latine Comunidad and our allies. It’s time for us to have our own spaces, and I am happy to be able to be the trailblazer that is creating our own table and gathering seats!
